ABU/WBC Referee, Judge and Ring Official Ishmael Koali, who has devoted more than half of his lifetime to Boxing, has been presented with the Inspiring Excellence in Sport Award.
The Honorable MEC for Sport, Mrs Leyla Mabuza presented this so well deserved accolade at Ermelo Sport-In, as a recognition. testament and a deserved garland for Ishmael’s thirty six years and counting, of skill, unwavering dedication and loyalty to Boxing. He first refereed a four round bout on February 9th 1990, between former South African middleweight champion Johannes Malaza and Mtho Mahangu. He went on to Referee more than fifty SA and international bouts.
The ABU and the WBC laud Mr Koali’s devotion and his willingness to teach by example, help, advise and selflessly assist in so many diverse ways. This has deservedly earned him the admiration, kudos and respect of his peers, The mighty ABU, The Green and Gold Family, plus the entirety of global boxing.
